One our favorite current trends brings us back to the days of shopping at Claire’s and goodie bag grabs from childhood birthday parties. Whether it’s barrettes, headbands, scrunchies or clips – we’re accessorizing our hair to complete every look. Not to mention they can come to the rescue on the days when your snooze button is your best friend or the dry shampoo just isn’t cutting it. Here are some of our picks if you want to liven up your locks and make a statement with your hair:

If you haven’t noticed, fruit prints and motifs are more popular than ever this summer. There are the beaded Susan Alexandra bags dripping with cherry dangles; the Staud and Reformation dresses covered in graphic, colorful fruit prints; the super-cool Sandy Laing cutout skirts and frocks dotted with apples, oranges, guavas and bananas; and ultra-feminine pieces by HVN that are ideal looks for a sunny picnic in the park.

And then there is Gucci, whose Spring 2019 collection was chock-full of strawberry prints. On handbags, on sneakers, on sweatshirts, on pants, on blouses, on wallets… each item was somehow more delicious than the last. I had to have a piece of it, and this past weekend in the Hamptons, I finally pulled the trigger when visiting their shop at Melet Mercantile in Montauk.

These pool slides combine two of my all-time favorite things: Gucci and sweet summer fruit. They’re ideal for everyday wear during the warmer months, and while the classic Gucci monogram is certainly noticeable, the cartoonish strawberry graphics help to make them fun and a bit tongue-in-cheek. Plus, dressing like a fruit salad kind of makes me feel like a little kid again, and isn’t that the ultimate summer dream?

Swimsuit Questions

What’s better: Spandex or Cotton?

If all you plan to do is bake in the sun, then a cotton blend is not a bad bet. You’ll often see cotton blended with polyester, which makes for a pretty comfortable suit. They also fit nicely, as a cotton-blend tends to pinch less than spandex. Many high-fashion suits — especially those designed for uber-petite types — have a high-cotton count.
